There are so many aspects of Halloween and therefore so many different songs. This year I decided to focus on pumpkins. Here are 4 songs about pumpkins/Jack-o-lanterns to sing as you get excited for Halloween.
Pumpkin Pumpkin
This is a little chant that I love to sing ‘ring around the rosie’ style. We stand up, hold hands, and drop to our bums on the last word.
Pumpkin pumpkin,
Round and fat,
Turn into a jack-o-lantern,
Just like that!
5 Little Pumpkins
This is a classic rhyme that all kids love! It uses great counting skills and has a lot of Halloween words and characters. We use the actions and also love using a book as we chant this song.
Five little pumpkins
Sitting on a gate
The first one said,
“Oh, my, it’s getting late!”
The second one said,
“There are witches in the air!”
The third one said,
“But we don’t care!”
The fourth one said,
“Let’s run and run and run!”
The fifth one said,
“I’m ready for some fun!”
OOOOOOOH, went the wind
And OUT went the light (clap on “out”)
And the five little pumpkins
Rolled out of sight. (roll arms)
Jack-o-lantern Song
tune: I’m a Little Teapot
Lately we have been working on shapes with my little two year old. I wanted a new Halloween song about pumpkins and Jack-o-lanterns and decided to write my own lyrics. I have included a free printable to pin and print as well. I love to use this with a little plastic pumpkin that lights up when I turn a switch. You can use any little pumpkin that happens to light up.
Have You Ever Seen a Pumpkin
tune: Have You Ever Seen a Lassie
I came across this song on Pinterest and loved it. I love the different adjectives that describe the pumpkins.
Have you ever seen a pumpkin, a pumpkin, a pumpkin,
Have you ever seen a pumpkin that grows on vine.
A round one, a tall one, a fat one, a small one,
Have you ever seen a pumpkin that grows on a vine.
