4 Songs We Are Singing in June

It is time to switch up my songs again. We are onto a new month! It is officially summer. June is the time of green grass, picnics, and park visits. We have already done our share and it is only six days into the month. I hope a quick look at these songs will give you new ideas of what to sing with your kids. These songs should be familiar or somewhat easy to learn.

I’m A Little Airplane

tune: Frère Jacques

Sometimes we make up songs over at this house. I shared this super simple song on my Instagram account this week. My children are both obsessed with airplanes currently and we needed a specific song to sing when we spotted one.

I’m a little airplane
I’m a little airplane
Way up high
Way up high
Swooping and gliding
Swooping and gliding
In the sky
In the sky.

Wheels on the Bus

Every child loves this song. It has best movements. Both big and small fine motor movements. Buses are similar to planes at this house. We have to point at and acknowledge EVERY SINGLE ONE. Just in case you haven’t read or sung the song in a while here are the lyrics we use.

The wheels on the bus go round and round (roll arms)
Round and round
Round and round
The wheels on the bus go round and round
All through the town.

The wipers on the bus go swish swish swish (move arms back and forth)
Swish Swish Swish
Swish Swish Swish
The wipers on the bus go swish swish swish
All through the town.

Other verses:
Door – open and shut (close and open hands)
Driver – move on back  (motion thumb back over shoulder)
People-up and down (move up and down)
Babies – wah wah wah (ball and twist fists under eyes)
Mommies -shh shh shh (Put pointer finger to lips)

Stretching Song

tune: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

This is an easy song to a VERY familiar tune. My kids don’t know this song yet, but we plan to sing and learn it this month. It is a good movement song to utilize some of those wiggles.

Everybody reach up high
Stretching, stretching to the sky.
Swaying left and swaying right
Blinking in the sky at night.
Everybody reach up high
Stretching, stretching to the sky.

5 Little Ducks

Here is a classic Raffi song everyone should love. My kids love how many times this song says “QUACK” in a row. It gets really silly when we sing this song.

5 little ducks went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK
And 4 little ducks came waddling back.

Repeat with 4, 3, 2, and 1 duck.

Last verse:

Sad mother duck went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK (say longingly)
And 5 little ducks came waddling back.

Happy June singing!
